Centre of the Universe. Jem Finer

The centre of the universe a commissioned sculpture for artist/musician Jem Finer whilst he was in residence at Oxford University with the astrophysics department.
Manufactured from timber and plywood the sculpture which was bolted and fixed to a seven metre high telegraph pole

Working closely with jem and structural engineer’s atelier one on initial budget costing and then on the manufacture which was produced of site and then brought to University Parks in kit form, partially pre-drilled to enable the installation to be easier and more economical.

The sculpture is not just a visual piece but an actual working radio telescope, the seven metre diameter parabolic dish covered in mesh directed radio waves to the receiver.
