Craft Cube Back
'The CraftCube initiative presents new and exciting ways of displaying, interpreting and accessing contemporary craft with a focus on new technology. The programme has been developed to showcase objects from the Crafts Council Collection - CraftCube: Collection - and to champion the work of Research Fellows that are at the cutting edge of contemporary practice - CraftCube: Research. Each CraftCube is an individual display environment, including objects and interpretation'.
Working closely with The Light Surgeons to a brief developed by the Crafts council of Great Britain millimetre designed and built 2 craft cubes complete with Audio Visual cabinets in order to showcase the work of two contemporary crafts women. The tensioned fabric skin both reduces light and dampens sound providing an intimate space in which to display pieces by the two artists and view films about the artist, their influences and the manufacturing processes involved in the making of the displayed objects.
