You Know You Cannot See Yourself So Well As By Reflection by Frida Escobedo for London Design Festival

John Madejski Garden, V&A Museum

26 May – 2 October 2015

Moveable, mirrored clusters of platforms, tables and benches transformed the V&A pool and courtyard for the 2015 London Design Festival, as millimetre worked with Mexican architect Frida Escobedo to create an ever-changing pavilion.

Inspired by the Aztec lake city of Tenochtitlan, with a name referencing Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, the installation was moved into different configurations during the exhibition. The wooden structures were topped with polished aluminium surfaces and sand blasted with a pattern designed to conform to the BS7976 Pendulum Slip Test. It was built by millimetre in three weeks and installed over two days.
